The films in the series have received mostly positive reviews. In 1985, the sequel Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome was released, following the adventures of Rockatansky in the Australian wasteland community Bartertown (shown below, left). In 1981, Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior was released, in which Rockatansky helps a community of settlers in the post-apocalyptic Australian wasteland defend themselves against thieving raiders (shown below, right).
